NICK SKINNER
Nick joined CATS for the pantomime Aladdin, where the programme editor very cornily put it, "Playing the Genie, he kept everyone spellbound!" Since those days of 1996, Nick has acted, directed, produced, and created some of the sturdiest bits of staging and set CATS has ever seen. The lectern, for example, in "Daisy Pulls it Off" was built by Nick and took two people ten minutes to dismantle it! He was also responsible for the boat-on-wheels, the Saucy Sal, in "Dick Whittington." Nick has performed in a number of shows where his character name is Nick, and has been nicknamed (sorry!) Uncle Nick by the rest of the society. Nick also proved that summer shows could attract good audience numbers and make money, especially with what we refer to as 'candy floss comedies' such as "Fish Out of Water" set on the Italian Riviera and "Out of Focus" He was also responsible for bringing the classic whodunit "The Ghost Train" to Crowthorne and more recently the brilliant Ray Cooney farce "Not Now Darling". Nick took a directorial break to perform in "Dick Whittington" as Mr Chips, Theseus in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and the swinger Ian Hubbard in "A Chorus of Disapproval" He also appeared in "Comic Potential" for Forest Jubilee Theatre as the pimp, Turkey. |
