Derek Benfield
is well known for both farce and comedies such as Post Horn Gallup, Anyone for
Breakfast? Bird in the Hand and Bedside Manners. The original version of this
play was written in 1965 for 9 characters. It was updated in 1985, and it is
the newer version that CATS performed.
We have all been on package holidays and wished we hadn't.
We have all had to suffer some of the more boisterous fellow holiday-makers, not
to mention 'foreign food', double bookings, late flights - and lets not forget
the language barrier!
The play is set on the idyllic Italian Riviera, join the
fun and games with Brigadier Hubback, his stuffy wife Audrey, larger-than-life
Agatha and her drippy sister Fiona as they try and cope with an amorous Mario,
a scantily dressed Marisa and the hopeless but well-meaning travel rep, Julian.
